Yesterday Noble Gym hosted the MDFPA March test competition as part of the MDFPA's commitment to organize a competition every month in 2011.
Matthew Muscat Inglott opted for the squat and bench only, breaking his own National Record Squat in the -100kg class raising the mark from 230kgs to 232.5kgs. He also tried to break his own Bench Press record of 157.5kgs with two failed attempts at 160kgs. Kris Mintoff registered the first ever equipped performance in a local MDFPA competition, and opens the official equipped National Rankings with 356.8 points. He lifted 220/150/250 for a final total of 620kgs.
Enrolled in the full power competition and challenging for full unequipped totals were Marvin Cilia, Daniel Grima, Cleaven Cutajar, Francis Spiteri making his full powerlifting debut, and the surprise newcomer Mark Formosa, registering an impressive 313.1 points in his first ever appearance on the local platform. At just 17 years of age, the powerful young 82.5kg class lifter is sure to set the MDFPA rankings on fire over the coming years. He slots in the 1st Division in 4th place.
The final results of the unequipped competition were as follows;
1. Marvin Cilia, 324 points
2. Mark Formosa, 313.1 points
3. Daniel Grima, 291.5 points
4. Cleaven Cutajar, 257.1 points
5. Francis Spiteri, 217.9 points
